50 Days in

Hello
FIFTY DAYS PEOPLE.  We have made it through 50 days of self-isolation, shelter-in-place, kids out of school - living.  Oh my goodness!

I just had to come on and say a little something about it, because 50 days feels like such a milestone.  When we were just 5 or 10 days in, I remember it seemed like we would never get through the week, let alone the month!  And yet, here we are.  Honestly, now that we have settled into a routine and schedule, I personally am finding it's not so bad.  Yes, absolutely there are lots of moments where I wish I could just hand off my kids and have a break.  Yes, I miss seeing people and getting out and going place (though not as much as my extrovert friends, at all).   Yes, I have had the opportunity to "escape" to the basement to do my own work without interruption so I haven't even been doing all the "kid things" all of the time (though it's not pleasant necessarily being in a cold, dark space all alone). BUT,  overall, our time so far in quarantine has been mostly smooth.

In fact, as there is all this talk about resuming services and opening things up again, a part of me feels like, "I'm not quite ready!"  We JUST found our pace and stride, and it feels like shifting things all over again will just be another upheaval and I'm not quite recovered from the first one.  Anyone with me?  Or perhaps it's just my introvert side that has secretly loved not having obligations and having permission to happily stay home and bake.

Either way, I feel that change approaching, even as I know that what is ahead will not be the same as what existed before.  This does bring me anxiety, but it's not crippling or overwhelming.  I know that I handle things by anticipating what is to come... and that is where my headspace is currently at.

But today is not just about looking ahead... for now, let's celebrate where we are at.  50 days in!!!
