Calgary: Six Months In

We have made it to the mark of 6 months of living in Calgary!  Can you believe it?

Six months feels like not that long ago, and yet sooooo much has changed for us.  I think back to life in Comox, and it feels like a lifetime away.  Of course there are many people we miss, but living in Calgary is just such a different experience for us.  I feel like from now on, we will talk about pre-Calgary life vs. post-Calgary life.  It's been quite an adjustment, but I am happy to say that I feel like we truly are thriving here.

Dan has settled well into the new church, and from what I can tell, people are very happy and love having him there.  It's a great fit for his role and job description, and we truly love the people we are serving amongst.  He's continuing working on his MA degree too, and hopes to switch over to Ambrose University at some point so he doesn't have to do the online modules.

The boys are halfway done kindergarten and just loving it!  They have a lot of friends there, and are learning to write and read, and happy as clams.  It's only half days, so we still fill the rest of our days up with activities like swimming, skating, and hip hop.  They have made friends at church too and really enjoy going to be see everyone they know.  They are busy and it takes a lot to keep them occupied and not destructive (towards the house or each other) but they are also the best of friends.  I can't believe they're nearly 5 1/2!!!

As for me... I said before that we are loving our lives here, and it's true.  Things have settled into such a nice pace and I really feel such low stress and a ton of enjoyment in my day to day.  I do have to admit that I am a bit antsy on the work front, and some days are a bit long and boring... but I also am so treasuring this quiet space in my life, because I don't know how long it will last and when I will ever have such a chance again.

I spend a lot of time at home, which I love, and am spending more time reading and writing, as well as pushing myself to new limits at the gym.  I have goals to be more social and get to know more people in the next 6 months, but I am also pretty content and find my days filled up somehow with just the regular stuff of life: groceries, cleaning, laundry, school, and church!

Calgary, the city, we are still getting adjusted to. It's like no place we have ever lived before!  It's been COLD, but we even aren't minding that... perhaps it's just the honeymoon period.  I'm excited for it to warm up more so we can get out and explore the natural beauty around more, because that is what I miss most from B.C.  However, I am loving the amenities and shopping and just having so many option for family-friendly things to do all the time, even when the weather is cold!
So there you have it, a recap of our time in Calgary so far.
