Christmas Adventures

We had a wonderful Christmas break!  Despite a rough start to the month of December (sickness and a sprained ankle) we pushed through and tried to enjoy the break as much as we could.  We had a few everyone-healthy days right at Christmas, and on Boxing Day one of the kids came down with an ear infection.  By New Year's, we were all feeling mostly better and spent the last week checking off things on our list to do, and just enjoying the time as family.

Here are some of the highlights of our winter activities (in photo form):

We visited a live Nativity play.  We didn't realize at the time that it was put on by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints... but the message still rang true. :)

Our kids performed in an incredibly cute children's song at church.
On Boxing Day, we all packed up as a family and visited the Telus Spark science center.  We watched a documentary on Robots.  It was a fun day!

We went to a Filipino gathering where we ate all-you-can-eat authentic Filipino food, complete with no utensils and all.  It was delicious!

We finally made it out to the lake for a day of sledding and skating!  We even went for a big walk right through the middle of the lake.  It was so so so cool.  This was, by far, the highlight for me!

Dan and I went downtown for a date for our 13th wedding anniversary to a super yummy roast house for dinner.

Then I got to have a special one-on-one date with my other little men.  It was so cute and so much fun to spend solo time with them.  I went skating and for a coffee date with MJ and shopping and to an arcade with RJ.

We got outside to explore more, since it has been a mild winter, and found some beautiful places to walk.

Lastly, the kids got new haircuts for school (with washout colour, for fun!)

It's been a great break, although much more busy with 5-year old boys at home than "restful."  As much as I have loved this time, I am looking forward to some "rest" once they are back in school haha.
