Twins' 5-Year Ninja Birthday Party
The party has come and gone...and now we have 5-year old twins!
We haven't done a "big" party since the boys turned 1, but this year we felt it was time to celebrate such a good milestone. We were sad to miss our Comox friends, but we invited a bunch of new friends from school and from church, and had a great time.
We chose a Ninja party theme this year, since the kids are loving a lego Ninja show called Ninjago and I figured it was a fairly "easy" theme to decorate for. Before the party they got to go to their favorite indoor jungle gym and run around like ninjas for a couple of hours.... which is why they're all sweaty and not really dressed up, lol.
When the kids arrived they received a ninja belt to wear (though nobody actually kept them on throughout the party).
Once everyone was here, there was a ninja challenge with 3 different activities the kids had to complete. First up was the classic, "Pin the Mask on the Ninja" game (I asked Daniel to make the poster, so it had to be a ninja turtle hehe).
Next we created a ninja laser maze. They had to make it through the maze without touching the "lasers" and collect a ninja star from the end. This game was a hit!
Lastly we headed outside and they had to use their ninja star to knock over a stack of bottles and cans.
After the games we came inside for snacks. It was so cute to see all the kids sitting together chatting and eating.
This is the first time our kids were aware enough to know what a party entails, and so the entire time they were BEGGING to open their gifts. So, we finally gave in and let them devour the stack of presents. Most of the other kids had just as much fun watching.
Then we got everyone back together and brought out the cake! I had planned to buy a cake, but at the last minute decided I could make one. The only thing is, I'm NOT a professional cake decorator. So I stuck with a simple Oreo cake with whipping cream icing and threw on some toy ninjas for fun. For a bunch of 5-year olds, it was totally a hit. The best part was watching the boys blow out the candles together (check out those cheeks!).
It was an awesome party! And now these kids are officially 5-year olds, full of little boy pizazz.
