Home Tour
Welcome to our home!
So many people have been asking for a tour, so I decided to share some pictures I have taken so far of the space we have set up (quick pictures, nothing fancy). Our home in Calgary is so different than our home in Comox, so it was actually a lot of work to set it up again and make it work for us. Now that we have settled in, we are loving it. The space is so functional and pretty and I really do feel at home.
When you walk in the front door (to our spacious entry, unlike the split level BC box we came from), there is a nook for a formal dining room that we (I should say Dan) converted to a music/sitting room. It is the perfect spot for sitting with a cup of coffee and listening to some vinyl.
From there the hallway opens up to the main area, which is bright and airy. The light that shines in is just phenomenal.
The living room is open concept to the kitchen and dining area. In the kitchen we have the HUGEST center island and I just love it. We hope to eventually have white cabinets, and repaint the bottom of the island, but I love the granite countertop and the spacious area. The boys love sitting up at the counter for breakfast or snacks while I work.
A few shots of the counter spaces in the kitchen.
And the next best part of the kitchen... the door to the pantry and laundry area! I can shut away all the chaos and yet have it all at an arm's reach. I love, love, love the walk-thru pantry area. The hallway comes in right from the garage to a little entry, then through a hallway with laundry, and into the pantry. I love this space (and I had a little fun going crazy with the organizing here)!
Anyways, onto the upper floor. From the front entryway, you can also head right upstairs. At the top of the stairs is a little nook, which we turned into the kids play area. It holds most of their toys, and mostly is a mess, but such a great space for them.
Their room is right off of it. It's smaller and just fits the two beds, which is why their toys are outside. Do you spy some little bodies?
There is a hallway with two more bedrooms and a bathroom. One room is empty right now, but eventually if the kids want separate rooms those can be their rooms. The other one is a guest room, for those who don't mind sleeping close to early rising boys, and a dog who makes the room her home.
At the end of the hall is our room. It is still in progress, but here's a view.
It is huge and spacious, and there is a walk-in-closet AND a beautiful sliding door that leads to an ensuite bathroom. Beautiful tile, separate shower and soaker tub, spacious closet space... it is a dream!
There you have it. I haven't taken photos of the basement yet (I know, MORE space!), but really it's because we have barely been down there. We have everything we need on these two floors. Downstairs is a more private guest room and washroom, and a nice rec room that I know will come in handy as the kids grow older and have friends over.
So, it is home sweet home. We are very happy to have a space to make our own. Now, who wants to come for coffee???

The dining area is at the back of the house and that door leads out to the deck and yard (which needs a LOT of work, so it remains unshown for now). Someone photobombed my photo too lol.
That gorgeous natural light though! I don't even mind working in the kitchen with this light.
